The Entrance to Aspen: How Did We Get Here?

Okay Next Gen, We're up! Lets see if we have the wisdom and talent to hit the Entrance to Aspen knuckleball that has befuddled two generations. This 2006 City of Aspen/GrassRoots production covers all the angles, decisions, indecisions, almost decisions, yeas and nays. Kudos to Ben and Corby on wrapping it all up in a pretty neat, easy to digest cup of HooBoy! We bet a straight shot that more research is needed, after a slightly confusing 50/50 advisory ballot vote. "Want to Know Aspen? Watch GrassRoots." GrassRoots TV programming is entirely funded by members of the Roaring Fork Valley community, and by grants from the City of Aspen Community Non-Profit Grant Program, Pitkin County Healthy Community Fund, The Town of Snowmass Village and The Aspen Thrift Shop. Founded by citizens of Aspen, Colorado in 1972, GrassRoots TV is the first and oldest community operated and programmed open source media center and television station in the United States. Believing the Unbelievable: The Clash Between Faith and Reason in the Modern World' with Sam Harris

Years before launching his award winning "Making Sense" podcast, Sam Harris challenged an Aspen Ideas Festival audience to question scriptural morality, their own personal ethics, and just how reasonable our contemporary society actually is. Sam received a degree in philosophy from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from UCLA. He has also practiced meditation for more than 30 years and has studied with many Tibetan, Indian, Burmese, and Western meditation teachers, both in the United States and abroad. Sam has created the Waking Up app for anyone who wants to learn to meditate in a modern, scientific context. Sam Harris is the author of five New York Times best sellers. His books include The End of Faith, Letter to a Christian Nation, The Moral Landscape, Free Will, Lying, Waking Up, and Islam and the Future of Tolerance (with Maajid Nawaz). The End of Faith won the 2005 PEN Award for Nonfiction. His writing and public lectures cover a wide range of topics—neuroscience, moral philosophy, religion, meditation practice, human violence, rationality—but generally focus on how a growing understanding of ourselves and the world is changing our sense of how we should live. Habits of Happiness - "The Four Keys of Living Mindfully" with John Bruna and Laura Bartels

John Bruna (Jangchub Chophel) is an author, counselor, educator, mindfulness and Dharma teacher. With humble and challenging beginnings, he grew up in a low-income environment, surrounded by drugs and violence. In 1984, at the age of 22, John found recovery and began a journey that changed the course of his life. As a result of that journey, John has been able to turn his experiences being a dishwasher, auto mechanic, corporate manager, graduate student, and spiritual practitioner into insights on how to live productively, creatively, and collaboratively. After living in different cultural and economic environments, along with his educational and spiritual training, John has become an accessible, authentic teacher and role model for people who want positive change and progress in their lives.
